Nilgrid Ceilings Installation Check corridor widths to ensure panel length and flash gap are suitable for installation as shown on layout drawing. Using a laser, or equivalent, determine closure angle level and mark on wall. Mark positions of NIL 5 brackets @ 1.2m centres and secure, finger tight, to wall. Drill holes in 25mm leg of closure angle @ 450mm maximum centres and secure to wall. With NIL 5 resting on closure angle, mark through the lower hole on back of NIL 5 and secure to wall. Alternately relax and tighten brackets to set NIL 5 in true horizontal plane. Drill M6 clearance holes centrally in top of NIL 1 profiles at 1.2m centres and slide in 12 No. NIL 3 cleats. Secure NIL 1 profiles, finger tight, to NIL 5 brackets using M6 dome head set screws, nuts and spacer washers. Set NIL 1 to correct distance from wall, align all lengths and tighten fixings. Drill M6 clearance holes in top flat of NIL 2 profiles at 1.2m centres to align with slots on NIL 5 brackets and secure, finger tight, with M6 set screws, nuts and spacer washers. To set spacing of NIL 1 and NIL 2 profiles, temporarily fix one NILGRID panel every 1800mm along corridor. First locate NIL 4 collars on to two adjacent NIL 3 cleats and offer up the pivot end of panel. Install panel vertically by locating side flange holes over NIL 4 collars and install split pins through NIL 4 collars and NIL 3 cleats. Adjust position of NIL 2 profiles by offering up the release end of panel until it locates into the NIL 2 profile. Tighten all fixings to NIL 5 brackets and secure 9.5mm outer lip of NIL 2 profile to NIL 5 brackets with self-tapping screws. Using ceiling layout drawings fix the setting out point by 'locking' a NIL 3 cleat, with self-tapping screws, to flat top of NIL 1 profile. Repeat at every fourth NIL 3 cleat. Facing the Pivot Wall, commence panel installation from the left-hand end of the corridor. End Wall panels are cut to size and located into NIL 1 profile, secured to the wall @ 450mm maximum centres, using Odd Leg channel wedge, GT122. Remaining NILGRID panels can now be hung generally as described above. Installation is completed by offering up the release end of panels and locating into the NIL 2 profile. Tiles with integrated luminaires should be non-pivoting and fixed to the NIL 2 profile with self-tapping screws. Please note: As manufacturers only, Burgess Architectural Products Ltd. cannot be held responsible for the installation of the ceiling. Site conditions, special applications, services integration etc. may require variations to these instructions, which are given purely as a general guide. Soft clean cotton gloves should be worn when fitting tiles. |
